About the yard: Brennan Equestrian is a small Livery/ Training and Dressage competition yard in Kinver. The yard is run by Sue Brennan, who is a BHS registered Instructor. Sue trains riders and horses of any level

Vacancy Description:

Brennan Equestrian is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join their dedicated yard team Spring 2019. You will be required to help with all general yard duties including:

  • Handling fit competition horses
  • Riding may be an option for the right candidate
  • You may have to opportunity to accompany riders to shows
  • Ideally it would suit someone with own horse who wants to progress in the industry, must have experience handling big horses!

Future Prospects: Possibility to train further to achieve Advanced Apprenticeship or BHS exams

Skills Required: Experience dealing with big and fit competition horses

Personal Qualities: Common sense, good sense of humour, well presented, clean and tidy

Working week: Sunday to Wednesday 8-5, 30 mins for lunch and 2 x 15 mins breaks am and pm. Once settled in, you will work one late night, working 5 to 9 pm, but have the afternoon off in lieu  Total hours per week: 30.00
Course: City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care or 3 Diploma in Horse Care & Management

About the Academy: Summerhouse Equine Academy will give you all round, work based experience and knowledge to gain a career in the Equine Industry. During the course you will be working towards a Diploma in Work Based Horse Care and Functional Skills qualifications as well as gaining experience in each part of the business, such as the Riding School, Competition yard, Reception and the Show department.

Vacancy Description: We are looking for a motivated person to join our team on our busy yard. You will take part in all general jobs; mucking out,feeding, grooming, tacking up, turning out as well as help out with shows and BHS exams as required. You will have regular trainig weekly, including riding lessons on our fabulous school horses. There is opportunity to observe high level training by Sara and Rachel Gallop and the opportunity for competent people to help out with our own competition horses and liveries or in our therapy centre

Future Prospects: Possibility continue on to Advanced Apprenticeship or join our Riding School team, this could be on the yard, as an instructor or part of the event or competition team

Skills Required: . You need basic stable management skills in mucking out, grooming and tacking up. We can offer a non riding Apprenticeship, so riding skills are optional, but for the Riding Pathway you will need to be confident in walk, trot and canter, preferably with and without stirrups, some jumping experience is an advantage

Personal Qualities: Team player, able to fit into a large team, excellent communication skills, committed to the job and your training, punctual and self motivated.

Qualifications Required: Basic Math and Communication Skills (a GCSE A-C or 4 and above in Math and English is an advantage, but not a requirement, as we have specialist tutors available). Industry experience will be taken into account if no qualifications are held
