Set up in 1978, training and development has been a passion and focus of our family business for over 30 years.
As part of Summerhouse Equestrian and Training Centre LLP, regional businesses have worked with us to successfully educate their staff in Equine, Adult Care, Beauty, and Business Skills qualifications.

Meet The Summerhouse Team
Operations & Development Director and Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP)
Peter joined Summerhouse in April 2011 with over 10 years’ experience in the Work Based Learning industry. He has extensive knowledge of funding and Apprenticeship delivery having started his career in an assessing and verification roles before moving onto operational and senior roles. Peter primarily manages the Summerhouse Training Group, whilst providing support to Helen and the team.
Peter is also the DSP for Summerhouse.
Apprenticeship Coordinator BHSI and IQA
Irma joined the Summerhouse Team in June 2002 as a Senior Instructor and is now Apprenticeship coordinator. She came over from the Netherlands where she did her instructor training to an equivalent level of the BHSI. After working as assistant yard manager and gaining her qualifications as an assessor and IQA, she now mainly works as lead Internal Quality Assurer for our Work Based Learning team. Irma is currently training Summerhouse Ceaser at Novice level dressage, and enjoys riding experienced schoolmaster, Vincente to GP level.
Helen’s previous career was in hotel and catering, working for large hotel chains including Forte and Moat House. This changed in 1998 when she joined Summerhouse to take over the “paperwork” plus a few other challenges. Her achievements to date include: Investors in in People ‘Key Champions Award’ contributing to the Investors in People, assisting with the LSC Inspection (Grade 1), plus ‘sorting out’ and maintaining the ever increasing filing system. She is also Homing & Welfare Officer for the Stroud branch of ‘Cats Protection’.
Lindsey joined Summerhouse in September 2009 has since achieved her Intermediate Apprenticeship, Level 1 and Level 2 and is now working towards Business Administration L2. Lindsey part of our administration team in our Work Based learning Department. Lindsey has worked in retail and has studied Art and Design (Fine Art) at college.
She owns and runs her own livery yard and competes her ponies, Sid and Tom, in ridden and driven showing and unaffiliated competitions.
Lisa joined Summerhouse in June 2018 as part of Administration team for Work Based Learning.
Functional Skills Coordinator
Val has been with us since February 2011 and is our Key/Functional Skills Coordinator., she is responsible for Key/Functional skills, English and Maths tutoring for the Apprenticeship programmes. Val has a Bachelors of Science, PGCE with QTS and a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Before joining us at Summerhouse Val taught in Secondary and Further Education sectors. Her interests include Walking, Gundog training and reading and previously owned her own Hunter and Eventer.
Assessor and IQA
Becci Joined our Work Based Learning team as an Assessor in March 2012 and is a BHS assessor up to Stage 3 and PTT. Becci previously worked at Hartpury College as Chief Instructor and as well as being BHSI trained, is also a Judge and Trainer for British Dressage, a BRC Master Judge and an Assistant Course Designer for BS.
In her spare time Becci enjoys competing, watching Rugby and watching her children compete on their Garden Tractor Pullers!
Frances joined our Work Based Learning team in June 2014. Frances holds her BHS INTSM and PTT and is a qualified TAQA assessor. She has been teaching for 15 years and worked for event rider Andrew Bennie running his yard and schooling the horses.
Frances was training her own horse towards medium level dressage but unfortunately he had to be retired early due to injury in the field.
Training Group Administrator
Sarah joined the business in October 2015, alongside her other part time role. Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge from her previous roles in the public and financial sectors to Summerhouse training, to support our subcontractors and training providers in data and financial administration.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys time with her family.
Katie is a qualified Beauty therapist and Nail technician with over 10 years experience. During her time in the industry she have worked as a Make-up artist for a leading brand in the cosmetics industry where she gained a wide range of skills from Make-up techniques, skin care, effective running of a business and customer care. With the skills and knowledge she gained it enabled her to start her own business offering a range of services in the Beauty, Make-up and nail industry.
Emma joins the Summerhouse team delivering Make Up Artistry level 3 courses out of our Salford, Wigan and Blackpool training rooms. From a young age Emma always had a desire to be in the beauty/fashion industry and for the last eight years Emma has been self employed carrying out work as a beauty therapist, spray tannist, lash and nail technician.
Emma can confidently guide, mentor and educate anyone wishing to learn how to become their own successful independent nail or make up technician.
Beauty Trainer and IQA
Sharron joins the Summerhouse team delivering Make Up Artistry level 3 courses out of our Salford, Wigan and Blackpool training rooms as well as providing Internal Quality Assurance to all of our Beauty Trainers. Sharron loves sharing her passion and knowledge with other people and seeing them gain in confidence. Giving people the skills to achieve their dreams and knowing that you have helped make a difference is an amazing feeling for Sharron.
Emily is a fully qualified make-up artist with eight years’ experience working in the make-up industry. She holds a B(Des) Hons in special effects & prosthetic make-up, and also a foundation degree in make-up artistry. Emily’s expertise lies within SFX make-up and she has been known in the industry for her ‘gory effects’ which she created for TV and Film in particular.
Contracted IQA for IT
Steven works with Summerhouse Training to support our delivery of BCS qualifications with Vista Training Solutions.
Contracted IT Tutor
Edward works for Summerhouse Training to deliver IT courses to Summerhouse Apprentices working with Vista Training Solutions.
